New Delhi, 14th May: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in New Delhi and reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation between India and Russia.
According to an official statement, Lavrov briefed the Prime Minister on developments in India-Russia relations since the meeting between Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin during the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit held in December 2025.
Talks on Ukraine and West Asia
The two leaders also exchanged views on several regional and global developments, including the ongoing situation in Ukraine and tensions in West Asia.
During the meeting, Modi reiterated India’s consistent position that dialogue and diplomacy remain the best path forward for resolving international conflicts.
Officials said the discussions reflected continued strategic engagement between New Delhi and Moscow on major geopolitical issues.
Focus on Bilateral Cooperation
The meeting also reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation across sectors following recent high-level engagements between the two countries.
India and Russia maintain close ties in areas including defence, energy, trade and strategic cooperation.
Prime Minister Modi also requested Lavrov to convey his warm greetings to President Putin.
