Satya Pal Jain Meets Punjab Governor After ASG Tenure Extension

Additional Solicitor General Pays Courtesy Visit to Governor Gulab Chand Kataria Following Fifth Extension of His Tenure

New Delhi, 4th July: Additional Solicitor General of India Satya Pal Jain on Thursday paid a courtesy call on Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria at Punjab Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh following the extension of his tenure as Additional Solicitor General for the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Jain described the meeting as a courtesy visit after the Central Government extended his tenure as Additional Solicitor General for the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The latest extension is the fifth granted to him since his appointment in April 2015.

He was appointed as the first Additional Solicitor General in the Punjab and Haryana High Court after the post was created in 2015. Since then, the Centre has extended his tenure on multiple occasions, enabling him to serve in the office for more than 11 years.

Expressing gratitude, Jain thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal for reposing confidence in him and giving him the opportunity to continue serving the institution.

A senior constitutional lawyer, Jain has represented the Union Government in several significant constitutional matters, including cases related to the Anti-Defection Law and election petitions before the Supreme Court of India and 16 High Courts across the country.

Jain is a former Member of Parliament from Chandigarh and has also served as a member of the Law Commission of India, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Panjab University and a long-serving member of the Panjab University Senate.
