Climate-resilient water management to take centre stage at five-day global event in New Delhi

New Delhi, 21st Sept: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the 9th India International Water Week (IIWW) 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on September 22, with climate-resilient water management at the centre of discussions.
Organised by the Ministry of Jal Shakti in collaboration with central ministries, state governments, international organisations, research institutions, industry bodies and other stakeholders, the five-day event will run from September 22 to 26 under the theme “Climate Resilient Water Management.”
The event will bring together policymakers, global water leaders, researchers, practitioners, industry representatives, civil society organisations, startups and young professionals to discuss emerging challenges and develop solutions for a water-secure and climate-resilient future.
Netherlands, Germany among Partner Countries
The Netherlands and Germany will participate as Partner Countries, while 14 states will participate as Partner States. Six Central Ministries and Departments have also been invited as Partner Ministries and Departments to strengthen Centre-State coordination and cross-sectoral cooperation.
The programme will feature 10 major forums, including Ministerial Plenaries, Global Water Leaders’ Plenaries, Country Forums, Practitioners’ Forums, Thematic Forums, a Startup Forum, Youth Forum and Industrial Forum.
Seven key themes
Deliberations will cover inclusive water governance, optimal utilisation of water resources, technology and community-led water security, climate-related water risks, innovative financing for water infrastructure, sustainable water resources management and water for people and the planet.
An international exhibition and technology showcase will also be held from September 22 to 25, featuring technologies and solutions for sustainable and climate-resilient water management.
International WASH Conference
The Second International WASH Conference 2026 will take place from September 22 to 24, focusing on drinking water access, sanitation, hygiene and public health, with emphasis on scalable and sustainable solutions.
The organisers said IIWW 2026 will seek to translate discussions into actionable recommendations, partnerships and scalable solutions involving policy, finance, technology and community participation.
The deliberations will culminate in the Valedictory Session on September 25, followed by study tours on September 26.
