New Delhi, 2nd May: Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak vacated his official residence in New Delhi on Saturday amid mounting legal pressure following the registration of two FIRs against him in Punjab.

According to reports, the cases involve non-bailable offences, raising the possibility of arrest.

Visuals from the capital showed increased security deployment outside Pathak’s residence, while footage also captured him reportedly leaving through a rear exit before moving to an undisclosed location.

Sources indicate that his phone has been switched off, with legal teams now working to secure protection.

Pathak was among the seven former Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MPs who recently resigned from the Arvind Kejriwal-led party and formally aligned with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The political shift dealt a major setback to AAP’s parliamentary strength, particularly in Punjab.

Along with prominent figures such as Raghav Chadha, Harbhajan Singh and Swati Maliwal, Pathak’s move has significantly altered the Upper House political equation.

Since the defecting MPs represent over two-thirds of AAP’s Rajya Sabha strength, constitutional anti-defection provisions are unlikely to trigger immediate disqualification.

The development adds fresh political and legal turbulence to an already volatile post-defection landscape.
