New Delhi/Kolkata, 4th May: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hailed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s landmark victory in West Bengal, calling it the beginning of a “new chapter” in the state’s political journey.
Addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters, Modi said the verdict reflected a decisive shift in public sentiment and marked the end of what he described as an era of fear.
“A new chapter has been added to the destiny of Bengal. The state is now filled with the confidence of development. Banglay poriborton hoyeche,” he said.
The Prime Minister dedicated the victory to the people of West Bengal, describing it as a “new sunrise” for the state.
Highlighting the government’s priorities, Modi announced that strong action would be taken against illegal infiltration and assured the immediate implementation of central health schemes that had remained stalled due to differences with the previous state government.
The Bharatiya Janata Party victory marks a major political shift in West Bengal, ending over a decade of rule by the Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee.
The results are expected to significantly reshape the political landscape of eastern India, with the BJP securing a long-awaited breakthrough in the state.
