Chandigarh, 5th May: A landmark academic and cultural event unfolded at Panjab University as author and Brits Desi Society Chairman Rishu Walia launched his historical work “Jassa Singh Ahluwalia: The Warrior Saint”, celebrating one of the most revered figures in Sikh history.
The launch ceremony, hosted by the Department of History at the university’s seminar hall, brought together scholars, dignitaries and students for a detailed discussion on the life and contributions of Jassa Singh Ahluwalia.
The event was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig as Chief Guest, alongside prominent academicians including Prof. Veena Sachdeva, Prof. Sarabjit Singh, Dr. Daljit Singh and Dr. Jasbir Singh, who shared insights into Sikh history and the significance of Ahluwalia’s legacy.
Faculty members and students participated in large numbers, making the event a vibrant academic gathering focused on historical discourse and cultural heritage.
On the occasion, Walia also presented a copy of the book to Gulab Chand Kataria and sought his blessings. He further met Satya Pal Jain, who also extended his support and appreciation for the work.
The book launch was attended by associates including Jagtair Singh, Rakesh Sharma, Rupinder Pal Singh and Sarvpreet Singh, who joined in marking the achievement.
The publication is being seen as a notable contribution to historical literature, aiming to preserve and promote the legacy of Sikh warriors and spiritual leaders while strengthening the connection between heritage and the global Indian diaspora.
