Dr Jitendra Singh to virtually address Rwanda’s Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa in Kigali

New Delhi, 9th May: Jitendra Singh on Friday held discussions with Jacqueline Mukangira on expanding India-Rwanda cooperation in nuclear energy, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

The Rwandan envoy personally conveyed an invitation from the Rwandan President to Dr Singh to participate in the ‘Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa’ (NEISA 2026), scheduled to be held in Kigali from May 18 to 21.

While expressing inability to travel to Rwanda personally, Dr Singh agreed to participate virtually and address a designated session during the summit.

The invitation was extended on behalf of the Government of Rwanda, including Rwanda’s ICT and Innovation Minister Paula Ingabire.

Focus on Nuclear Energy and AI
NEISA 2026 will be organised at the Kigali Convention Centre in partnership with international institutions including the International Atomic Energy Agency, UNECA, Nuclear Energy Agency and World Nuclear Association.

The summit is expected to bring together policymakers, scientists, innovators and industry leaders to deliberate on nuclear energy innovation, AI integration, manufacturing ecosystems and future energy partnerships for Africa.

During the meeting, both sides explored opportunities for cooperation in atomic energy applications, digital capacity building, research, education and innovation ecosystems.

Dr Singh highlighted India’s expanding global engagement in sectors such as nuclear energy, biotechnology, space technology, artificial intelligence and digital governance under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Rwanda Keen on Indian Innovation Partnerships
The Rwandan delegation expressed strong interest in India’s scientific and technological progress and discussed strengthening institutional partnerships with Indian ministries and innovation platforms.

Discussions also covered modalities for Dr Singh’s virtual participation in a summit session focused on nuclear energy deployment, AI and manufacturing partnerships.

Dr Singh said India remains committed to strengthening partnerships with countries of the Global South in science, innovation and sustainable development sectors.
