PM Modi, Denmark PM Hold Talks on Green & Tech Partnership

Oslo, 19th May: Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, on Tuesday met Mette Frederiksen, Acting Prime Minister of Denmark, on the sidelines of the 3rd India-Nordic Summit in Oslo and reviewed the expanding bilateral partnership between the two countries.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the progress achieved under the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership launched in 2020 and discussed ways to further deepen cooperation across multiple sectors.

According to an official statement, both leaders agreed to strengthen collaboration in emerging technologies, advanced research, communications, start-ups and academic exchanges.

The discussions also covered cooperation in defence and artificial intelligence.

Prime Minister Modi invited Danish companies to establish a presence in GIFT City and highlighted India’s readiness to adopt Danish green technologies and sustainable solutions.

The leaders also reviewed ongoing environmental and climate-related cooperation under the Green Strategic Partnership framework.

In the field of water management, the two sides noted the successful collaboration on the Smart Laboratory on Clean Rivers initiative in Varanasi, developed jointly by the Government of India, Indian Institute of Technology Banaras Hindu University and the Government of Denmark.

The meeting also included discussions on mobility partnership and people-to-people exchanges.

Both leaders exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest during the interaction.

Prime Minister Modi also conveyed his best wishes for Denmark’s ongoing tenure as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
