Census 2027 Field Operations Begin in Himachal

Self-enumeration starts in Kerala and Nagaland as 23 States and UTs complete Phase-I

Shimla, 16th June: Field operations for the Houselisting and Housing Census under Phase-I of Census 2027 commenced in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday following the completion of the self-enumeration period. The house-to-house enumeration will continue till July 15.

The self-enumeration facility has also begun in Kerala and Nagaland and will remain available till June 30. The field operations in these states will be conducted from July 1 to July 30.

House-to-house census operations are currently underway in Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Puducherry and Uttar Pradesh. Residents who complete self-enumeration have been asked to share their Self-Enumeration ID with enumerators during field visits.

The Houselisting and Housing Census has been completed in Rajasthan, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Punjab and the MCD area of Delhi.

So far, 23 States and Union Territories have completed the first phase of Census 2027. The census is being conducted using digital tools for the first time through a dedicated mobile application alongside traditional door-to-door enumeration.

The government said information collected under the Census Act, 1948, will remain confidential and will be used only for statistical purposes and development planning.
