Vadodara, 17th June: At least six people were killed and nearly 20 others injured after a private luxury bus rammed into a parked truck on the Vadodara-Halol highway in Gujarat’s Vadodara district in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to Vadodara District Superintendent of Police Sushil Agrawal, the accident occurred near Kotambi village around 4 am when the bus, travelling from Rajasthan to Surat, crashed into the rear side of the truck.
The truck had reportedly been parked on the roadside while its driver was checking the tyre pressure. The impact of the collision severely damaged the front portion of the bus.
Police personnel from Jarod police station reached the spot and launched rescue operations. Due to the extent of the damage, teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were also deployed to assist in the rescue efforts.
The injured passengers were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Police said a majority of those travelling in the bus were from Rajasthan, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
