Evian, 18th June: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Outreach Session on “Ensuring a Safe, Rapid and Efficient Rollout of Artificial Intelligence” at the G7 Summit in Evian, France, and stressed that AI must serve humanity by expanding human potential, empowering human choices and protecting human dignity.
Highlighting Artificial Intelligence as a transformative force capable of reshaping the course of human civilisation, PM Modi said technology must remain people-centric. He noted that India’s recent AI Impact Summit reflected this approach through the country’s MANAV (human) vision for AI, which is based on the principles of inclusivity, security and public good.
The Prime Minister said India considers cyberspace a global public good and emphasised that democratic countries should have access to AI models capable of protecting critical information infrastructure and responding effectively to cyber threats.
Calling for an integrated approach to AI development, PM Modi outlined four key principles: AI systems should be safe-by-design; deployment should be supported by common standards, testing frameworks and regulatory guidelines; global cooperation should be strengthened to tackle deepfakes, misinformation and cyber fraud; and AI benefits should be extended to countries of the Global South.
Reaffirming India’s commitment to responsible AI development, the Prime Minister said the country would continue to work with international partners to ensure that artificial intelligence advances human welfare and contributes to an inclusive and secure digital future.
