New Delhi, 23rd June: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that “Nation First” remains the highest guiding principle of the government and has been the driving force behind India’s emergence as a credible and reliable global power.

Addressing the Republic Summit 2026, the Prime Minister said India is not only among the world’s fastest-growing economies but is also regarded globally as a trustworthy partner. He noted that the country’s rise is built on trust, stability and commitment to the larger global good.

Highlighting the government’s achievements over the past 12 years, Modi said initiatives such as Swachh Bharat, Make in India and the promotion of local products succeeded because citizens embraced the spirit of putting the nation first.

The Prime Minister asserted that Maoist violence in India is “breathing its last”, attributing the change to a combination of strong security measures and rapid development in previously affected regions. He said thousands of kilometres of roads, mobile towers, banking facilities and communication networks have transformed these areas.

Modi described India’s shift from a mindset of “this can never be done” to “this will be done” as one of the country’s biggest achievements. He said aspirational districts and targeted development programmes have improved opportunities and living standards in some of the country’s most underdeveloped regions.

The Prime Minister also highlighted measures aimed at empowering the poor and the middle class, including affordable housing initiatives, tax reforms, improved healthcare access, Jan Aushadhi Kendras and expanded transport infrastructure through metro networks, Vande Bharat trains and new highways.

Calling India’s youth, entrepreneurs and innovators key drivers of future growth, Modi urged citizens to remain focused on national development and seize emerging opportunities in a rapidly changing world.

Expressing confidence in the country’s future, he said the collective efforts of 140 crore Indians would help realise the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
