New Delhi, 29th June: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh on Monday said India’s rapidly expanding space and biotechnology sectors present significant opportunities for deeper collaboration among BRICS and BRICS Plus countries through innovation, startups and emerging technologies.
The remarks came during a meeting with a delegation of the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BRICS CCI), led by its Chairman Sameep Shastri, which discussed ways to strengthen industry-led global engagement through research partnerships, entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence and technology-driven cooperation.
The Minister said India’s emergence as a global innovation hub and its leadership in sectors such as space, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, nuclear energy and deep technology provide an ideal platform for building stronger international partnerships that contribute to both national growth and global development.
He encouraged industry bodies to move beyond conventional networking and create value through knowledge-sharing, innovation and meaningful collaborations. Dr. Singh also urged the BRICS CCI to facilitate partnerships between Indian startups and innovation ecosystems across BRICS member countries while promoting technology-led economic engagement.
Highlighting reforms introduced over the past decade, the Minister said India’s innovation ecosystem has created new opportunities for collaboration among government, industry, academia and entrepreneurs. He invited the Chamber to identify sector-specific areas aligned with India’s scientific priorities, including startups, biotechnology, space technologies and public-private partnerships.
The BRICS CCI delegation briefed the Minister on its initiatives over the past decade to promote trade facilitation, women entrepreneurship, startup networking, AI, research collaboration and business engagement among BRICS and BRICS Plus countries.
Dr. Singh said sustained participation, sector-specific forums and knowledge-based engagement would further strengthen India’s role within the expanding BRICS ecosystem.
