Shivpuri, 5th July: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday laid the foundation stone for South Asia’s largest private-sector missile and advanced defence manufacturing ecosystem in Shivpuri district.
The project, being developed by Adani Defence & Aerospace with an investment of ₹2,500 crore, is expected to strengthen India’s indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities and generate more than 5,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Addressing the event, Scindia said the facility would manufacture advanced missile systems, precision-guided munitions and next-generation defence technologies, while positioning the Gwalior-Chambal region as a major defence manufacturing hub.
He said the project reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and complements the Madhya Pradesh government’s efforts to attract large-scale industrial investment.
Scindia said the strategically located defence complex at Kolaras would strengthen national defence logistics and integrate hundreds of MSMEs from the region into the defence supply chain, boosting local industries and exports.
During the programme, the Union Minister also sought the Chief Minister’s approval for four development projects in Shivpuri, including a ₹100-crore circular road, a 108-foot Lord Shiva statue, a super-speciality wing at Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Medical College and a new government college at Khod.
He said the defence manufacturing ecosystem marks a new chapter in the Gwalior-Chambal region’s industrial growth and India’s journey towards self-reliance in defence production.
