New Delhi, 7th July: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid tributes to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his 125th birth anniversary, saying that a government guided by the principle of “Nation First” ensures national heroes receive the respect they deserve.
Addressing the commemorative event through a video message, Modi described Dr. Mookerjee as a visionary nation-builder whose unwavering commitment to India’s unity continues to inspire generations. He said the ongoing nationwide celebrations of Mookerjee’s 125th birth anniversary reflect the government’s commitment to honouring his legacy.
The Prime Minister recalled Dr. Mookerjee’s strong opposition to the idea of “two constitutions, two prime ministers and two flags” and said his vision of national integration was realised through the abrogation of Article 370.
Highlighting Dr. Mookerjee’s contribution to education and institution-building, Modi said he believed that nation-building begins with strong institutions. He credited him with laying the foundation of key institutions such as Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, Sindri Fertilizer Plant, Damodar Valley Corporation, and IFCI, which strengthened India’s industrial and economic growth.
The Prime Minister also said the National Education Policy reflects Dr. Mookerjee’s vision of promoting education rooted in Indian languages and culture. Urging the youth to work towards a Viksit Bharat, Modi called upon them to pursue every task with dedication and a spirit of national service.
