Trump Refuses to Sign Bipartisan Housing Bill Over Voter ID Dispute

WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump on Friday announced that he will not sign the bipartisan housing affordability bill that he earlier called “a big yawn”.

Trump said he will let the bill approved by Congress become law without his signature.

He said in a social media post that he will let the bill approved by Congress become law without his signature.

Trump noted that he was refusing to put his name on it keeping in view the little progress made in passing a strict voter ID bill that he has been pushing.

Trump wrote on Truth Social platform “I will not sign the Housing Bill, which has been fully approved by Congress and sent to the White House, in PROTEST over the fact that the United States Senate is not capable of passing THE SAVE AMERICA ACT, which is polling at 97% with the Republican Party, and very high with the non-politician Dumocrats. The Act states, quite simply, that to Vote a person must show PHOTO VOTER I.D., PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP, AND THAT THERE WILL BE NO MORE CROOKED, CORRUPT, & DESTABILIZING MAIL-IN BALLOTS (EXCEPTIONS for Military, Disabled, Illness, and Travel!)”.

He had 10 days time to sign the bill, issue a veto, or allow the measure to take effect without his signature, The Associated Press reported.

Trump decided to let the measure become law without his approval.

The bill was a rare instance of bipartisan agreement on major legislation in the deeply divided Congress, as per media reports.

It looks forward to waive or speed up environmental reviews for home construction projects as well as place a cap on the number of constructed single-family homes that big Wall Street investors can own.

Trump abruptly canceled a signing ceremony for the bill to put pressure on Republicans into casing the SAVE America Act.
