Tenzing Norgay Adventure Awards 2024 Announced
Four achievers selected across land, water adventure and lifetime achievement categories

New Delhi, 2nd Sept: The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on Wednesday announced the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards (TNNAA) for 2024, recognising outstanding achievements in adventure activities. The awards cover four categories: Land Adventure, Water Adventure, Air Adventure and Lifetime Achievement.
The awardees are Baljeet Kaur and Skalzang Rigzin in the Land Adventure category, Rimo Saha in Water Adventure and Shiv Prasad Chamoli for Lifetime Achievement.
The awards recognise exceptional achievement in adventure and aim to promote endurance, courage, risk-taking, teamwork and effective decision-making in challenging situations.
The awardees will receive the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards from the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan along with the National Sports Awards 2025. The date of the ceremony will be announced separately.
Each awardee will receive a statuette, certificate and award money of ₹15 lakh. The selections were made on the recommendations of the National Selection Committee, which evaluated and scrutinised the nominations before recommending the awardees.
The Ministry said the awards are intended to encourage young people to develop courage, endurance, discipline, resilience and cooperative teamwork, while promoting wider participation in adventure activities across the country.
The awards also underline the government’s focus on nurturing a culture of courage, resilience and excellence among India’s youth.
