New Delhi, 17th Oct: The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV), under the Ministry of Ayush, recognising the Departments of Kaumarbhritya at AIIA Delhi and Goa as Centres of Excellence for RAV.
The agreement was signed during KAUMARACON 2026 at AIIA in New Delhi. It aims to strengthen Ayurveda-based paediatric care through standardised clinical practices, research, professional training and capacity building in policy research and intellectual property rights.
A key focus of the collaboration is the development of a standard operating procedure (SOP) for Swarnaprashan Samskar, an Ayurvedic practice associated with child health. Experts from AIIA Delhi and Goa will work together on formulation standardisation, preparation, administration and age-appropriate dosage, while addressing quality control, safety, documentation and monitoring.
The partnership also provides for laboratory and clinical research into the safety and efficacy of Swarnaprashan, subject to feasibility and necessary approvals. Joint publications, training programmes and the dissemination of the SOP among national and international stakeholders are also envisaged, with RAV supporting technical discussions and outreach.
PRAYAS to Strengthen Integrated Paediatric Care
AIIA Goa’s PRAYAS centre, an integrated paediatric neurorehabilitation facility, will contribute to further training and capacity building under the collaboration. Its multidisciplinary approach brings together Ayurveda paediatricians, a modern paediatrician, occupational and speech therapists, physiotherapists, Yoga professionals and an Ayurveda diet expert.
The centre supports children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), cerebral palsy (CP), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other neurodevelopmental conditions. Its model combines specialised paediatric Panchakarma with coordinated professional care, aiming to improve daily functioning, participation and quality of life according to each child’s needs.
International Ayurveda Academic Chair Planned in the US
In a separate development, AIIA Goa signed an international MoU with Maharishi International University (MIU), Fairfield, Iowa, for establishing an Academic Chair in Ayurveda in the university’s Department of Physiology and Health.
The agreement provides for academic and research collaboration, curriculum development, short- and medium-term courses, workshops, seminars and conferences on Ayurveda. It also envisages joint research, dissemination of findings and promotion of the safe use of Ayurveda in the United States.
The MoU includes provisions for protecting intellectual property generated through the collaboration. Together, the partnerships seek to expand Ayurveda education, strengthen evidence-oriented research and support the development of standardised approaches to paediatric care.
