NCPCR Rescues Over 3,800 Children
Pan-India campaign targets child labour, trafficking and exploitation through coordinated rescue and rehabilitation efforts

New Delhi, 5th Sept: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) rescued more than 3,800 children from child labour during its special Pan-India Rescue and Rehabilitation Campaign, conducted from June 12 to August 31, 2026.
The campaign was launched to intensify the identification, rescue and rehabilitation of children engaged in child labour and those vulnerable to trafficking and exploitation. NCPCR coordinated with State Governments and Union Territory Administrations, District Magistrates, Labour Departments, Police authorities and other stakeholders.
The Commission issued communications to concerned authorities seeking intensified and targeted rescue operations at child labour and trafficking hotspots. States and UTs were also asked to regularly submit data on rescued children, FIRs, rehabilitation, restoration, educational mainstreaming, compensation and other follow-up measures.
NCPCR held meetings with district administrations to monitor implementation, address operational challenges, ensure timely submission of action taken reports and strengthen coordination among departments and agencies.
The Commission also conducted awareness and outreach activities through social media and other communication platforms, highlighting mechanisms for reporting child labour and the importance of rehabilitation and educational mainstreaming after rescue.
According to NCPCR, sustained monitoring and coordinated action with State authorities resulted in the rescue of over 3,800 children, while more than 575 FIRs were registered during the campaign.
