New Delhi, 5th Sept: President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Dr Dinesh Sharma as the Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, according to a press communique issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The appointment will take effect from the date Dr Sharma assumes charge of his office. The announcement was made on Saturday.
Dr Dinesh Sharma has previously served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and is currently a Rajya Sabha member. Reports said his tenure in the Upper House is due to end next week.
