Shahdol, 8th Sept: Internationally acclaimed Kathak dancer and Kathak Ratna Dr. Shambhavi Shukla Mishra, a resident of Greater Noida, presented a special Kathak performance on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami in Shahdol.

The performance featured a captivating dance drama based on episodes from the life of Lord Krishna. Dr. Shambhavi began the presentation with a Ganesh Shloka, followed by renowned compositions of the Jaipur Gharana in Taal Dhamar.

Known for her engagement with Indian aesthetics, literature and diverse cultural initiatives, Dr. Shambhavi presented the friendship between Lord Krishna and Sudama with depth and sensitivity.

The performance was further enriched by the soulful singing and musical direction of noted Greater Noida-based singer Brijesh Mishra, who brought the compositions of poets Naroत्तam Das and Surdas to life through music.

The programme was organised by Shri Krishna Pathey Nyas under the Culture Department of the Madhya Pradesh Government, Bhopal. Dr. Shambhavi portrayed Lord Krishna, while Kumari Vandita played Rukmini and Kaliya Nag, Kumari Aditi portrayed Sudama, Rishabh Shukla played the Sutradhar and sentry, and cultural scholar Dr. Kavita Shukla presented the dialogue and message segments.
