New Delhi, 26th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday attended a ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ programme at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Park in Delhi, where traditional devotional music was presented in a contemporary, concert-style format. The event was organised to mark the 110th birth anniversary of Bharatiya Jana Sangh leader Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
‘Bhajan Clubbing’ has emerged as a format that brings together large groups, particularly young people, for devotional music featuring live performances, singing, clapping and contemporary musical arrangements. The format combines traditional bhajans with the atmosphere and presentation associated with modern concerts.
During the programme, PM Modi was seen seated among attendees, clapping along with the performers and playing a tambourine-like hand instrument. Videos from the event showed young participants singing along with the devotional performances.
Sharing a video of the event on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “Bhajan Clubbing in Delhi. Spectacular!”
The event brought renewed attention to the growing trend of presenting devotional music in contemporary formats. PM Modi had also spoken about ‘bhajan clubbing’ earlier this year, describing it as a combination of devotion, culture, spirituality and modernity that has found resonance among young people.
