Government standardises names of peaks, passes, glaciers, rivers and other features in consultation with UT administration

New Delhi, 2nd Oct: The Government of India, in consultation with the Union Territory of Ladakh, has identified 28 places and geographical features in Ladakh by standard place and feature names on the official map of the Survey of India (SoI).
The government said the formal identification of these places and features on the Survey of India map is aimed at facilitating their accurate recognition and improving public awareness.
28 Places and Features Identified

The government said the exercise is intended to ensure that the identified places and features are formally represented using standard names on the Survey of India map of the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The updated map, featuring the additional places and geographical features, is available through the Survey of India’s state maps section.
