Three High Court Chief Justices Appointed to Supreme Court
Justice Sunita Agarwal, Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh elevated as Supreme Court judges

New Delhi, 5th Oct: President of India Droupadi Murmu has appointed three serving Chief Justices of High Courts as Judges of the Supreme Court of India, exercising powers conferred under the Constitution of India.
The appointments include Justice Sunita Agarwal, Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court, Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, and Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court.
According to the notification issued on Monday, the three appointments are:
– Justice Sunita Agarwal — Chief Justice, Gujarat High Court; parent High Court (PHC): Allahabad.
– Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya — Chief Justice, Delhi High Court; PHC: Allahabad.
– Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh — Chief Justice, Telangana High Court; PHC: Jharkhand.
The appointments have been made in exercise of the constitutional powers vested in the President of India.
The elevation of the three Chief Justices will add to the strength of the Supreme Court and brings judges with experience from the Gujarat, Delhi and Telangana High Courts to the country’s apex court.
