Amritsar, 14th Oct: Punjab Police have arrested Jobanpreet, a key accused in the murder of Punjabi influencer and makeup artist Mad Sandhu, from Mumbai in a joint operation involving the Counter Intelligence wing in Jalandhar and the Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
Police recovered three pistols, five magazines and 11 cartridges from the accused, marking a significant development in the investigation into Sandhu’s killing.
According to preliminary investigations, Jobanpreet allegedly played a role in moving weapons, arranging finances and providing logistical support to the shooters on the instructions of foreign-based handlers. Police also said he confessed to alleged involvement in three firing incidents linked to extortion in Tarn Taran district.
Investigators are now working to establish the wider network behind the murder, including the alleged roles of weapon suppliers, financial facilitators and other associates. Police said further investigation is underway to trace the network’s backward and forward linkages and identify others involved.
Mad Sandhu, whose full first name was Madhusudan, was shot dead in Amritsar by two unidentified men riding a motorcycle. He was found lying on the road with a gunshot wound.
Soon after the killing, a Facebook account using the name “Goldy Dhillon” reportedly posted a message claiming responsibility for the murder. The claim remains distinct from the findings of the ongoing police investigation.
Sandhu was known for his work as a makeup artist and Punjabi influencer. He also appeared on podcasts discussing makeup, the film industry and gender issues. He had faced homophobic trolling on social media.
The latest arrest adds to the investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. Police are continuing efforts to establish the alleged conspiracy and determine the extent of the involvement of other suspects.
