Varanasi, 25th Oct: Women in Varanasi welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday with BJP flags, the national Tricolour, flower petals and traditional drums as he arrived in his parliamentary constituency for the Indian Air Force (IAF) Day Aerial Display-2026.

Modi reached Varanasi Police Line and proceeded by road to Namo Ghat, where he was scheduled to attend the aerial display as the chief guest. Eight welcome points were arranged along the route, with women leading the reception at the first point.

Poonam Maurya, District Panchayat President of Varanasi, said women were eager to welcome their MP and credited the Prime Minister’s initiatives with encouraging women’s self-respect, confidence and financial independence.

She said women in Kashi had prepared to greet him with flowers and traditional drums, describing the occasion as an opportunity to express their appreciation.

Women Express Excitement Over Welcome Arrangements
Pooja Dixit, BJP Regional General Secretary in Varanasi, said women were particularly enthusiastic about being the first group to welcome the Prime Minister.

She noted that the arrangements reflected the participation of women in the city’s reception programme.

Dixit also highlighted the inauguration of Arvind Limited’s garment manufacturing facility, describing it as an employment opportunity for local women. According to her, more than 300 women were expected to gain jobs through the facility.

She said the employment opportunities could help women move towards greater financial independence and support their empowerment.

Garment Facility Expected to Create Jobs
The new garment manufacturing facility is expected to strengthen Varanasi’s textile and apparel sector while expanding employment opportunities, particularly for women.

The inauguration formed part of the Prime Minister’s visit to the city, which also included the planned IAF aerial display.

The facility is expected to connect locally manufactured garments with wider markets and support manufacturing-led growth in the region.

IAF Aerial Display Adds to City’s Excitement
The Wings Over Ganges aerial display at Namo Ghat is part of celebrations marking the Indian Air Force’s 94th anniversary.

Dixit welcomed the opportunity for residents to watch the aircraft display in person, noting that many people usually see such performances on television during national celebrations.

The programme is expected to feature military aircraft and display teams from the Indian Air Force, along with participation from the Indian Army and Navy.

The welcome arrangements and planned events brought together cultural traditions, women’s participation and a showcase of India’s military aviation capabilities during the Prime Minister’s visit.
