New Delhi, 26th Oct: Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh on Monday reviewed activities under Special Swachhata Campaign 6 at the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) offices at Lok Nayak Bhawan, Khan Market, New Delhi, and called for making cleanliness an integral part of everyday work culture.

During the visit, the minister inaugurated a newly established Library-cum-Reading Hall to promote reading, knowledge-sharing and continuous learning among officers and staff. He also opened a Swachhata-themed selfie point to encourage employees and visitors to participate in cleanliness initiatives.

Singh stressed that cleanliness should not remain a one-time exercise but must involve regular office upkeep, timely waste disposal and responsible management of electronic scrap. He urged the department to sustain the campaign’s progress throughout the year.

Minister Felicitates Sanitation Staff
At the Scrap Collection Centre, Singh reviewed arrangements for collecting, segregating and disposing of scrap, including electronic waste. He appreciated efforts to remove obsolete materials, optimise office space and promote responsible waste management.

Recognising the contribution of the workforce maintaining Lok Nayak Bhawan, the minister felicitated sanitation staff by presenting eco-friendly bags and cleanliness kits.

He also called for extending cleanliness initiatives beyond government offices to busy public spaces, particularly crowded market areas, in coordination with local bodies such as the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).

Pensioners Share Feedback On Digital Services
During an interaction with Central Government pensioners, Singh received feedback on Digital Life Certificates, the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPENGRAMS) and the Integrated Pensioners’ Portal.

He emphasised that pension administration should remain citizen-centric, with accessible digital services and responsive grievance redressal systems. Administrative reforms, he said, must translate into tangible improvements in pensioners’ ease of living.

The minister also highlighted the need for sensitivity towards senior citizens and vulnerable sections of society, stressing the importance of timely support, effective facilitation and responsive public services.

Tree Plantation Promotes Environmental Responsibility
As part of the visit, Singh planted a sapling on the Lok Nayak Bhawan premises under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, coordinated with the NDMC.

The programme concluded with an interaction involving DoPPW officers, staff and journalists. Singh appreciated employees’ participation and encouraged them to continue cleanliness activities throughout the year.
