Amaravati, 28th Oct: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reviewed the state’s response to Cyclone Arnab through a teleconference involving around 32,000 personnel, including district collectors and field-level staff. He directed officials to speed up relief and restoration work and ensure that normal conditions return to affected areas as soon as possible.
According to the information available so far, no loss of life had been reported. Naidu appreciated officials and field staff for working through the night to minimise public inconvenience and urged them to maintain the same commitment until the cyclone’s impact subsides.
During a separate review with senior officials, the Chief Minister sought details of crop damage and ordered the preparation of preliminary estimates. He also directed the administration to brief the Centre on the measures being taken to address the cyclone’s impact.
Roads, Power and Essential Services
Naidu instructed officials to clear fallen trees blocking roads and restore traffic within two hours. Trees obstructing national highways must be removed in real time to prevent disruptions to traffic.
He also directed authorities to restore electricity in affected areas as soon as strong winds subside and conditions permit. Cyclone shelters must have adequate food, drinking water and medical facilities, while residents should receive regular reassurance about their safety and the assistance available.
Farmers’ Concerns and Public Grievances
The Chief Minister asked officials to take steps to prevent water from entering agricultural fields, protect horticultural crops and prevent breaches in tanks and irrigation canals.
He also stressed the need to use the Mana Mitra system effectively to address problems reported by citizens. Officials must resolve complaints promptly and inform people once their issues have been addressed.
Disaster Response Teams on Standby
Naidu directed the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams to remain on standby for emergencies.
He emphasised close coordination among departments and instructed officials to continue relief, restoration and rehabilitation operations until normalcy returns across cyclone-affected areas.
