Visakhapatnam, 27th April: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Monday described Andhra University as a “melting pot of ideas, leadership and nation-building” while addressing its centenary celebrations in Visakhapatnam.
Marking 100 years of academic excellence, the Vice President said the university has played a defining role in shaping generations of leaders, scholars and innovators who contributed significantly to India’s progress.
He paid tribute to former Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, recalling his vision of education as a means of building both intellect and character.
Highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s economic transformation, the Vice President praised the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and noted that the state is rapidly emerging as a major national hub for investments, digital infrastructure, IT, tourism and innovation.
He said Andhra Pradesh now accounts for a substantial share of India’s proposed investments and has strengthened investor confidence through transparent governance and business-friendly policies.
Radhakrishnan also congratulated the people of Andhra Pradesh on Amaravati being declared the permanent capital, calling it a reflection of public aspirations and a milestone for administrative clarity and stability.
Echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, he stressed that a developed India can only be achieved through developed states, citing Andhra Pradesh as a strong example of this approach.
During the ceremony, the Vice President conferred Distinguished Alumni Awards on several eminent personalities, released commemorative materials, and witnessed strategic academic MoUs aimed at expanding Andhra University’s global engagement.
