New Delhi, 10th June: Senior journalist Anil Pandey has been appointed Chairman of the NUJ School of Journalism and Communication, an institution established by the National Union of Journalists (India) [NUJ(I)], affiliated with the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ).
The announcement was made during the General Body Meeting of the NUJ School of Journalism and Communication held at the Jayaprakash Narayan Auditorium of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University in Agra. Senior journalist and Jansatta correspondent Priyaranjan was elected General Secretary.
NUJ(I) National President Ras Bihari formally announced the newly elected office-bearers and outlined the provisions of the institution’s newly adopted Constitution.
Senior journalists Bhishma Singh of Jamshedpur and Anita Choudhary of Delhi have been appointed Vice Presidents. Alok Mohan Nayak was elected Treasurer, while Gaurav Lalit (Delhi), Vipul Kumar (Haryana), Bhanwar Singh (Rajasthan) and Rahul Verma (Uttarakhand) were appointed Secretaries.
The General Body was also informed about the formal adoption of the new Constitution of the NUJ School of Journalism and Communication. The revised Constitution was drafted following recommendations of a committee constituted during the NUJ(I) convention in Haridwar and later approved by the institution.
The drafting committee included Anil Pandey, Dadhibal Yadav, Manoj Verma, Rakesh Thapliyal and Amlesh Raju, among others, with the NUJ(I) President serving as an ex-officio member.
Under the new Constitution, the organizational structure comprises a Chairman, two Vice Chairpersons, a General Secretary, a Treasurer, four Joint or Assistant Secretaries and an eleven-member Executive Committee.
The newly announced Governing Council includes Ras Bihari, Pradeep Tiwari, Rakesh Thapliyal, Usha Pahwa, Dadhibal Yadav, Pratibha Shukla, Sachin Budhaulia, Dr. Umesh Pathak, Dr. Ritu Dubey, Pramod Goswami from Uttar Pradesh and Rakesh Kumar Singh from Bihar.
The NUJ School of Journalism and Communication was established to equip journalists with knowledge of emerging technologies and evolving trends in the media industry. The institution regularly conducts workshops, training camps and professional development programmes for journalists across the country.
As part of its upcoming activities, the institution announced that a special workshop will soon be organized in New Delhi to provide media professionals with training on contemporary developments in journalism, communication and digital media.
