New Delhi, 1st May: Senior Indian Defence Accounts Service officer Anugraha Narayana Das has officially assumed charge as the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) with effect from May 1, 2026.

A 1991-batch IDAS officer, Das brings more than three decades of experience in defence financial management, public administration, budgeting, procurement oversight and audit systems.

An alumnus of Utkal University and the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, Das has also received advanced executive training from premier institutions including IIM Bengaluru and Duke University.

Throughout his distinguished career, he has served in multiple strategic financial leadership roles across the Ministry of Defence, Service Headquarters and various field formations.

His previous key assignments include Director in the Ministry of Water Resources, Additional Financial Adviser and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Principal Integrated Financial Adviser at Army Headquarters and Special CGDA at CGDA Headquarters.

Officials said his appointment is expected to strengthen defence financial governance, expenditure monitoring and institutional efficiency amid India’s expanding defence modernization agenda.

His leadership comes at a crucial time when robust fiscal oversight is increasingly central to strategic defence planning.
