Mumbai, 3rd Oct: Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale on Saturday criticised Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Abhijeet Dipke over alleged remarks concerning Dr B R Ambedkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Athawale said Dipke had made what he described as incorrect remarks about Ambedkar and accused him of making disrespectful statements about Modi and Fadnavis. He called on Dipke to stop making such remarks and demanded an apology.
According to Athawale, Dipke had claimed that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru brought Ambedkar into prominence. Athawale rejected the claim and said Ambedkar had made a significant contribution to India’s progress through the Constitution.
Athawale also criticised Dipke’s comments about Modi and Fadnavis, saying that political criticism should not involve what he termed unwarranted or disrespectful remarks.
He said Dipke enjoys support among students and young people and urged him to use that support for constructive purposes rather than targeting public figures.
The remarks come amid a broader political campaign by the CJP led by Dipke. The party has been protesting over alleged irregularities in electoral processes and the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, and has announced another protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10 if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar does not resign.
