Lucknow, 31st Oct: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed confidence that the BJP will return to power in Uttar Pradesh with an overwhelming majority, declaring that the party’s position in the state is as firm as Angad’s foot and cannot be shaken.
Addressing party workers in Lucknow, Shah said there was no reason for BJP workers to doubt the party’s electoral prospects.
“The BJP government in UP is as firmly planted as Angad’s foot—no one can dislodge it. Once again, the Bharatiya Janata Party is set to form the government here with an overwhelming majority. Our party workers need not have any doubts about this,” Shah said.
Shah praises Yogi Adityanath’s action against mafias
The Home Minister congratulated Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for what he described as the state’s transformation under his leadership.
“I want to wholeheartedly congratulate Yogi ji for demonstrating strict governance and working to free Uttar Pradesh from mafias,” Shah said.
He credited the state government’s approach to strict administration and action against organised criminal networks.
Claims India is now free from Naxalism
Shah also spoke about the BJP government’s campaign against Naxalism, recalling how several Congress leaders had questioned the possibility of eliminating the menace.
“No one could have even dreamed of eradicating Naxalism from this country. Many Congress leaders asked me personally, ‘What have you gotten yourself into, brother? This isn’t an election—it simply cannot be done,'” Shah said.
He added that the BJP believed there could be no coexistence with terrorists and Naxalites and described eliminating the threat as the party’s responsibility.
“Eliminating this menace became our duty—and before our very eyes, the country has now become free from Naxalism,” he said.
Shah targets Akhilesh Yadav over 1990 firing on kar sevaks
The Home Minister also targeted Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav while referring to the firing on kar sevaks in Ayodhya on October 30, 1990, during the tenure of then Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Shah accused the Samajwadi Party leadership of assuming that people had forgotten the incident.
“Today is October 30. On this very day in 1990, Samajwadi Party Chief Minister Mulayam Singh carried out a massacre by ordering indiscriminate firing on Ram devotees,” Shah said.
Addressing Akhilesh Yadav, he added that the people of Uttar Pradesh would not forgive the Samajwadi Party leadership or even its future generations for the incident.
Shah responds to political speculation
Shah also spoke about political discussions in Delhi over upcoming electoral contests. Recounting his conversations in the national capital, he said he often predicts BJP governments in Punjab and Uttarakhand when asked about the party’s prospects.
He said questions about Uttar Pradesh had also been raised, prompting him to reiterate his confidence in another BJP victory in the state.
