New Delhi, 31st July: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is preparing a major overhaul of its youth outreach strategy following the nationwide protests over the NEET paper leak, with the party planning to strengthen its engagement with Generation Z through emerging social media platforms and interactive communication.

According to party sources, the BJP intends to shift from one-way messaging to a two-way dialogue with young people, recognising that traditional methods of communication have become less effective in reaching the younger generation.

A senior BJP leader said recent events highlighted the need to bridge the communication gap with students, many of whom demanded systemic reforms rather than limiting accountability to the resignation of the Union Education Minister.

The party believes platforms such as X and Facebook are no longer sufficient to engage Gen Z effectively and is now considering expanding its presence on Instagram, Snapchat and Reddit, where younger audiences are more active.

As part of the strategy, the BJP is considering forming teams of young volunteers across districts to communicate government initiatives in a style and language that resonates with their peers. Party leaders believe youth are better positioned to engage with their own generation than conventional political communicators.

Sources said the party is also reviewing its existing social media structure and may recruit more young professionals while redesigning its communication style to make it more interactive and relatable.

The outreach strategy draws on recent efforts by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who posted selfie-style video messages on Instagram during the student protests and encouraged Union ministers to expand their presence on the platform and interact more actively with citizens.

Party leaders also cited presentations made during the recent NDA MPs’ meeting, including Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal’s briefing on India’s free trade agreements, as examples of information that could be repackaged into short videos, Instagram Reels and visual explainers for younger audiences instead of relying on lengthy presentations and statistics.

According to BJP leaders, the NEET controversy demonstrated that even after corrective measures such as the re-examination were undertaken, the government’s inability to effectively communicate those steps to students prolonged public dissatisfaction.

The party is now exploring what leaders describe as a more “foolproof and leakproof” communication system to engage Gen Z and ensure that government decisions and policy initiatives reach young citizens in a timely and accessible manner.

The BJP has not made an official announcement on the proposed strategy. The report is based on information shared by party sources.
