Nashik, 25th April: A new angle has emerged in the alleged religious conversion and harassment case at the Nashik unit of Tata Consultancy Services, with investigators probing claims that a dessert served to an employee was laced with an intoxicating substance.

According to a statement given to police, the employee alleged that he felt disoriented and intoxicated after consuming ‘sheer khurma’ at the residence of one of the accused during Eid. He claimed that he was subsequently manipulated using his personal vulnerabilities and pressured into religious practices under the pretext of resolving personal issues.

The complainant further alleged that he was coerced into wearing religious symbols and filmed, while fabricated negative reports were sent to his workplace superiors to increase psychological pressure.

Investigators are also examining claims that the victim was taken to multiple locations and forced into situations against his beliefs. Police are tracing physical evidence, including the purchase of items seen in videos, and tracking vehicles allegedly used in the case.

The probe has intensified following a breakthrough in digital evidence. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) accessed data from a key accused’s mobile phone after a court allowed investigators to use biometric access to bypass security protections.

Officials said the recovered data is expected to play a critical role in establishing the sequence of events and identifying possible links within the alleged network.

So far, seven accused have been arrested and multiple FIRs registered. The suspects have been suspended by the company, and several women employees have also come forward with separate allegations of workplace harassment.

Police said the investigation is now focused on corroborating digital evidence with physical findings and examining the broader scope of the case, including possible organised elements.

The accused are currently in police custody as the probe continues.
