FM Nirmala Sitharaman to Visit Canada, US from Aug 25
Finance Minister to join India-Canada Economic Dialogue and G20 Finance Ministers’ meeting
- Sitharaman will visit Canada and the US from August 25 to September 2.
- She will participate in the first India-Canada Economic and Financial Dialogue.
- The Minister will lead India’s delegation at the G20 FMCBG meeting.
- Investor and business meetings are planned in Toronto, Chicago and New York.

New Delhi, 24th Aug: Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will undertake an official visit to Canada and the United States from August 25 to September 2, 2026, focusing on bilateral economic ties, investment and global financial cooperation.
In Toronto, Sitharaman will participate in the inaugural India-Canada Economic and Financial Dialogue with Canadian Finance and National Revenue Minister François-Philippe Champagne. Discussions will cover macroeconomic developments, financial-sector cooperation, investment opportunities and shared international priorities.
She will also hold investment and business roundtables with Canadian industry leaders, besides one-to-one meetings with senior executives. Discussions will cover sectors including energy, artificial intelligence, critical minerals and technology.
In the US, Sitharaman will travel to Chicago, Asheville and New York. In Chicago, she will meet investors and business leaders and visit the University of Chicago’s Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
In Asheville, North Carolina, she will lead the Indian delegation at the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) Meeting on August 31 and September 1 under the US G20 Presidency.
In New York, the Finance Minister will participate in an investor roundtable and hold meetings with financial-sector executives. She will also participate in a bell-ringing ceremony at Nasdaq.
Sitharaman will additionally interact with the Indian diaspora in Toronto and Chicago, with the government highlighting the role of the community in strengthening people-to-people and economic ties.
