Bhopal, 22nd May: Fresh allegations have emerged in the death case of Twisha Sharma, with her close friends claiming she was repeatedly humiliated and mentally harassed by her husband Samarth Singh and his family before her death.

Twisha, 33, was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12, barely five months after marrying Samarth Singh, a lawyer.

Twisha’s friends Navratan, Prerna and Purshottam alleged that Samarth frequently insulted her during gatherings with friends and family.

According to them, Samarth often called Twisha “gawar” and publicly mocked her educational background and abilities.

“He used to say she does not know anything, what has she studied, she does not know anything, nor does she do anything,” her friends alleged.

The friends claimed Twisha became unusually quiet after marriage and appeared to be under severe emotional pressure from her in-laws within a few months of the wedding.

They also alleged that tensions worsened after Twisha underwent an abortion, which they described as an unplanned pregnancy.

According to the friends, Samarth and his mother Giribala Singh repeatedly questioned Twisha about the pregnancy and allegedly cast doubts over the identity of the unborn child’s father.

Twisha’s friends further claimed that despite promises made by Samarth on the wedding day to care for her after bringing her to another city, she instead faced humiliation and emotional distress.

They also alleged that Twisha’s parents had planned to bring her back home from Madhya Pradesh, but the visit was cancelled after Giribala Singh allegedly warned that Twisha would not be allowed to return if she left the house.

Another close friend, Prachi, claimed Twisha maintained separate phones for work and personal communication, but after her death, her in-laws allegedly tried to keep the personal phone away from her family.

Twisha had reportedly met Samarth through a dating app in 2024 before marrying him in December 2025.

Her parents have accused the husband and in-laws of physical abuse, dowry harassment and sustained mental torture.

WhatsApp chats earlier accessed by investigators reportedly showed Twisha telling her mother that she felt “trapped” in an unhappy marriage.

In response, Giribala Singh — a retired judge — publicly alleged that Twisha suffered from psychiatric issues and drug addiction.

However, police officials have stated that no evidence has so far been found to support claims of drug addiction.

Twisha’s family has maintained that she was a cheerful person before marriage but underwent drastic emotional and physical changes afterward, including severe weight loss.

While Giribala Singh was granted anticipatory bail earlier, Samarth Singh remains absconding after his bail plea was rejected by a sessions court.

Bhopal Police have announced a cash reward of ₹30,000 for information leading to his arrest.
