In a series of posts on X, the Prime Minister said the government’s efforts have been guided by the principle of Antyodaya, aimed at ensuring that the benefits of development reach those who were left behind for decades.

“Over the last 12 years, India has witnessed many transformations and at the core of these changes is the welfare of the poor and downtrodden,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister noted that flagship initiatives such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Swachh Bharat Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission and Ayushman Bharat have been designed to provide dignity, opportunity and improved living standards to millions of citizens.

According to Modi, the objective behind these programmes has been to ensure inclusive growth and empower people through better access to financial services, housing, sanitation, healthcare and basic amenities.

Highlighting the role of technology in governance, the Prime Minister said digital platforms and DBT mechanisms have transformed welfare delivery by ensuring benefits reach beneficiaries directly.

“It is also gladdening that technology has played a vital role in ensuring a better quality of life for the poor. Through Direct Benefit Transfer and digital platforms, support is reaching people directly and transparently,” he said.

Modi stated that technology-driven governance has reduced leakages, improved efficiency and strengthened public trust in government systems.

The Prime Minister said the journey of Garib Kalyan has evolved into a broader movement for human empowerment and forms a key pillar of the vision of a developed India.

He added that welfare initiatives combined with transparent governance mechanisms are helping accelerate the country’s progress towards the goal of Viksit Bharat.

The remarks came as the government marked 12 years of its welfare and development initiatives under the theme “#12YearsOfGaribKalyan.”
