The plenary session will focus on a wide range of sectors, including tourism, agriculture and horticulture, investment promotion, self-reliance in milk, eggs, fish and meat production, sports development, economic corridor projects, infrastructure and connectivity, as well as handloom and handicrafts.

According to the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), the meeting will deliberate on the progress made by the Chief Minister-level High-Level Task Forces constituted to drive development in critical sectors across the region.

Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of State for DoNER Sukanta Majumdar, Governors and Chief Ministers of all eight Northeastern states, members of the NEC and senior officials from the Centre and state governments are expected to participate in the session.

The meeting comes amid the Centre’s continued focus on accelerating infrastructure development, connectivity and economic growth in the Northeast under its Act East and regional development initiatives.

Following the Shillong meeting, Shah is scheduled to visit Tripura, where he will review security arrangements and ongoing infrastructure projects along the India-Bangladesh border.

Officials said the Home Minister will chair a high-level meeting with the Border Security Force (BSF) and other security agencies to assess the security situation and evaluate border management measures.

Discussions are expected to focus on issues such as illegal migration, cross-border smuggling, illicit trade and other transnational crimes along the international border.

Tripura shares an 856-kilometre border with Bangladesh and remains a strategically important state for border management and security operations.

During his visit, Shah will also lay the foundation stone and participate in the bhoomi pujan ceremony of a hotel project being developed jointly by the Tripura government and a private organisation.

He is also expected to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several development projects aimed at strengthening the state’s infrastructure and boosting economic activity.

The Home Minister’s itinerary includes participation in a tree plantation drive and a Sainik Sammelan with security personnel.
