Kolkata, 28th Aug: The President of India has approved the appointment of judges to the Calcutta High Court, in exercise of powers conferred by the Constitution of India and after consultation with the Chief Justice of India.
According to the notification issued on Friday, Justice Biswaroop Chowdhury, currently an Additional Judge of the Calcutta High Court, has been appointed as a permanent Judge of the High Court.
Six other Additional Judges have been appointed for a fresh term of six months with effect from August 31, 2026.
The judges receiving the fresh six-month term are:
Justice Prasenjit Biswas
Justice Uday Kumar
Justice Ajay Kumar Gupta
Justice Supratim Bhattacharya
Justice Partha Sarathi Chatterjee
Justice Md. Shabbar Rashidi
The appointments are part of the constitutional process for strengthening the judicial strength of the Calcutta High Court.
