Jakarta, 7th July: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced that the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore will establish its first overseas campus in Indonesia, describing it as a major step that will benefit students across the ASEAN region.

The proposed campus will be set up at the Singhasari Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Malang and marks another milestone in the global expansion of India’s premier educational institutions under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The curriculum will focus on five emerging areas—global supply chains, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, climate and sustainability, and healthcare management. The initiative will be implemented in two phases, beginning with executive education programmes for business leaders and public sector professionals, followed by degree-granting management courses.

The campus will primarily cater to Indonesian students while also attracting learners from across Southeast Asia. Participants will have opportunities for academic immersion at IIM Bangalore’s Bengaluru campus.

The initiative is expected to strengthen India-Indonesia academic cooperation, promote leadership development and position Indonesia as a regional hub for quality management education.
