New Delhi, 21st April: President Droupadi Murmu hosted President Lee Jae Myung at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday, emphasising that deeper India–Korea cooperation can unlock vast opportunities for youth and economic growth.
Welcoming the Korean leader on his first visit to India, Murmu said the partnership between the two nations is rooted in shared democratic values and mutual trust.
Highlighting the strengths of both countries, the President said, “India has skill, speed and scale, while Korea has expertise in high-tech manufacturing. By combining these strengths, we can create numerous opportunities for our youth.”
Murmu noted that both nations have set an ambitious agenda covering sectors such as shipbuilding, port development, digital technology, MSMEs, steel, education, research and cultural exchanges.
She also welcomed the decision to resume negotiations on upgrading the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), aimed at boosting trade and economic cooperation.
The two sides discussed expanding collaboration in emerging areas including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, electronics, clean energy, services and tourism.
The President stressed the importance of joint efforts in green and climate technologies to ensure a sustainable future.
Murmu highlighted the establishment of the India–Korea Parliamentary Friendship Group, saying it would enhance dialogue between the Indian Parliament and the Korean National Assembly.
Both leaders agreed that stronger cooperation across innovation, education, environment and technology will deliver tangible benefits for citizens of both countries.
Officials said the visit marks a step forward in strengthening the India–South Korea strategic partnership.
