Kedarnath, 22nd April: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday marked the opening of the doors of Shri Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand, with the annual Chardham Yatra commencing for the season.
In a message addressed to devotees, the Prime Minister conveyed his greetings and prayers for their well-being. The message was shared through a letter for pilgrims undertaking the Yatra in Uttarakhand.
The Prime Minister stated that the Kedarnath and Chardham pilgrimage reflects India’s faith, unity and cultural continuity. He noted that such journeys provide an understanding of the country’s enduring spiritual traditions.
In a post on X, Modi said the opening of the shrine marks the beginning of a sacred period for devotees and expressed hope that the pilgrimage proceeds safely.
The Chardham Yatra includes Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri, and draws large numbers of pilgrims each year.
Authorities in Uttarakhand have put in place arrangements related to security, crowd regulation and essential services for the Yatra.
