New Delhi, 25th April: Social activist Anna Hazare on Friday weighed in on the exit of Raghav Chadha and other leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party, stating that political departures often reflect deeper internal issues.
Hazare said that in a democracy, every individual has the right to take political decisions, but emphasised that party leadership must introspect on why leaders choose to leave.
He suggested that such exits are rarely without cause and indicated that internal challenges within the party may have contributed to the development.
The remarks come after Chadha, along with six other Rajya Sabha MPs, announced their decision to join the BJP, marking a major shift in AAP’s parliamentary strength.
Chadha had accused the party of moving away from its founding principles, alleging corruption and a departure from its original political ideals. The party, however, termed the move a betrayal.
Hazare, who was closely associated with Arvind Kejriwal during the 2011 anti-corruption movement, said that leadership must ensure adherence to core values to retain trust and unity within the organisation.
The development has intensified political debate over AAP’s internal dynamics and future trajectory.
