New Delhi, July 2: Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Thursday called on young people to embrace ethical leadership rooted in service, saying true leadership is measured not by authority but by humility, integrity and commitment to society.

Addressing participants of the MP LEAD Fellowship at the Vice-President’s House, Radhakrishnan urged them to place the nation above region, language and caste, asserting that India’s unity has remained its greatest strength. “Bharat was one, Bharat is one and Bharat will always remain one,” he said.

Encouraging the fellows to dream big, the Vice-President said many among them could go on to hold key positions in public life, administration and the judiciary. “One of you may also become the Vice-President of India,” he remarked.

He highlighted the importance of constitutional values, saying democracy thrives when citizens fulfil their duties alongside their rights. Stressing continuous learning and innovation, he urged the participants to contribute actively to nation-building.

The two-month MP LEAD Fellowship, initiated by Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Ajeet Madhavrao Gopchade, provides young people with exposure to governance, public policy and legislative processes. This year’s programme selected 40 fellows from over 5,000 applicants, with women accounting for 62 per cent of the participants.
