Varanasi, 29th April: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday declared that India’s women power is the strongest pillar of Viksit Bharat while addressing a massive Mahila Sammelan in Varanasi, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth around ₹6,350 crore.

Describing women as central to national transformation, Modi said his government remains fully committed to ensuring greater female participation in policy-making and governance.

He sought public blessings for the early implementation of women’s reservation in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies under the Nari Shakti Vandan framework.

The Prime Minister highlighted a decade of women-focused welfare initiatives, including sanitation, financial inclusion, housing ownership, education and entrepreneurship, emphasizing that women’s empowerment remains at the core of governance.

He noted that over 10 crore women have been connected to Self-Help Groups nationwide, with lakhs benefiting through economic initiatives such as Lakhpati Didi, Mudra Yojana and Banas Dairy support.

Among the major infrastructure announcements were enhanced connectivity projects, healthcare facilities including a 500-bed super speciality hospital, critical care units, railway expansion and development initiatives aimed at strengthening Kashi’s position as a major regional hub.

Modi also reaffirmed his broader development mantra of combining heritage preservation with modern infrastructure growth, positioning Varanasi as both a spiritual and economic growth center.

The event marked one of the Prime Minister’s strongest recent pitches for women-led national development while reinforcing Varanasi’s strategic political and developmental importance.
