New Delhi, 15th Aug: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address to the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, unveiled a comprehensive 10-point roadmap aimed at accelerating India’s journey towards becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047. Stressing the need for reforms, innovation and collective national effort, the Prime Minister called upon governments, industry, farmers, youth and citizens to work together to achieve the country’s long-term development goals.

The Prime Minister said reforms were not a compulsion but a conviction and urged the Centre, states, industries and society to continuously modernise policies, systems and governance in line with the aspirations of a developed India.

A major highlight of the address was the launch of the ‘Sapt Dhara’ vision—seven strategic pillars that will drive India’s growth over the coming years. These include strengthening manufacturing, transforming agriculture into a global export engine, advancing technology and innovation in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Space and Robotics, expanding world-class infrastructure under Gati Shakti, achieving defence self-reliance, promoting the green and blue economy, and enhancing India’s global soft power through Yoga, Ayurveda, tourism, culture and digital content.

Emphasising manufacturing excellence, the Prime Minister called for developing complete value chains within the country and making “Quality, Quality, Quality” the defining mantra of Indian industry. He urged MSMEs to leverage global trade opportunities and ensure Indian products meet international standards of quality, cost and competitiveness.

Calling for higher national ambitions, Shri Modi asked why India should not have 50 companies in the Fortune Global 500, one of the world’s top five banks, globally leading pharmaceutical companies, consulting firms, technology companies and internationally recognised Indian brands over the next decade.

The Prime Minister also appealed for a transformation in the country’s work culture, stating that India must accomplish in the next five to seven years what could not be achieved over previous decades. He said the coming quarter century would be decisive for the country’s future and required faster execution, greater efficiency and larger aspirations.

Addressing social issues, Shri Modi described drug abuse as one of the biggest challenges facing the youth and called for a nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat movement. He urged every family to actively participate in the ongoing campaign involving volunteers, social organisations and spiritual institutions.

On political reforms, the Prime Minister appealed to all political parties to work together for the early implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, enabling women to receive 33 per cent reservation in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies.

Highlighting the importance of accurate data for policymaking, the Prime Minister urged young citizens to take the lead in ensuring their families participate correctly in the ongoing Census exercise by providing accurate information.

Reiterating the ideals of the Panch Pran, Shri Modi urged citizens to place the nation above self-interest and make duty their identity. Concluding his address, he called upon the country to transform dreams into determination and determination into achievement through collective national effort.

The Prime Minister said the time, opportunity and resolve belonged to India and urged every citizen to take meaningful steps towards building a developed, self-reliant and globally respected nation by 2047.
