New Delhi, 20th Aug: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of the reported assault on two men from Manipur in Delhi’s Munirka area and sought a detailed report from the Delhi Police within two weeks.

According to the Commission, media reports indicate that the two men were allegedly assaulted by two individuals, leaving one of the victims with serious head injuries. The injured person has reportedly been admitted to a hospital and is on a ventilator.

Observing that the reported incident, if found to be true, raises serious concerns regarding the violation of human rights, the NHRC has issued a notice to the Commissioner of Delhi Police.

The Commission has directed the Delhi Police to submit a comprehensive report detailing the progress of the investigation as well as the current health condition of the injured victim.

According to media reports cited by the NHRC, the incident occurred following a dispute over a minor issue, which allegedly escalated into a violent assault. The reports were published on August 14, 2026.

The NHRC said it will examine the matter further after receiving the report from the Delhi Police.
