Prime Minister Modi condoles deaths in Maharashtra accident; latest reports say at least six people were killed and eight injured

New Delhi, 11th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the loss of lives in a road accident in Nanded, Maharashtra, and announced ex-gratia assistance from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
According to reports, a passenger Tata Magic van and a truck collided head-on near Sitakhandi on the Nanded-Bhokar road at around 7 pm on September 10. Police said at least six people were killed and eight others were critically injured. The injured were shifted to hospitals in Nanded and Bhokar for treatment.
The Prime Minister conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
The PMO said an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the PMNRF would be provided to the next of kin of each deceased person, while ₹50,000 would be given to each injured person.
The accident left the passenger vehicle badly damaged, with local residents helping rescue people trapped in the wreckage before the injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
