New Delhi, 1st May: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the boat capsizing incident in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

Calling the tragedy extremely painful, Modi conveyed condolences to bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.

The Prime Minister also announced financial assistance from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

An ex-gratia amount of ₹2 lakh will be provided to the next of kin of each deceased victim, while injured individuals will receive ₹50,000.

Modi noted that local authorities are actively assisting affected families and coordinating rescue and relief measures.

The Jabalpur boat tragedy has raised concerns over passenger safety and operational oversight in tourist boating services.

The Prime Minister’s intervention underscores the Centre’s commitment to immediate humanitarian support during major civilian tragedies.

Rescue and investigation efforts remain ongoing.
